A truffle

November 7, 2010

About a month ago I brought two Charbonnel et Walker truffles, I couldn’t resist as when I walked past their beautiful little shop. They have been sitting on my desk ever since, waiting for the right time, for me to want a chocolate fix, but not to be too hungry or too full. Last night I caved, I decided one would be a decent reward for having spent my evening filling in job applications.

With every expectation of beauty I bit into a Marc de Champagne truffle, it was so disappointing. I have had so much better truffles from places that claim to be so much less than Charbonnel et Walker, I’ve never tried them before because they are so expensive and it seems they’re not even remotely worth the money. I ate the other a plain milk chocolate truffle with breakfast this morning because I knew it wouldn’t be worth savouring.

They wrap them up in very pretty boxes though….

Maybe I’ll make some truffles sometime, homemade truffles are delightful.
